Child & Adolescent Counseling

(Ages 3-18 years)

Working with younger children and adolescents involve a collaborative approach with parents, teachers, and other caregivers. Initially, it is important to understand the context in which children are having difficulties. Children and adolescents aged 3 to 18 years may attend counselling individually, along with collaborative sessions with parents or family members. This type of counselling is for young people who are able to identify issues bothering them.

Child and adolescent counselling help to identify the causes of problems and provide the necessary solutions. Professional support helps to boost the child's success and remove negative factors. It may also involve changes in the child's environment and internal coping abilities. This helps the child to positively experience family, friends, school, success and challenges.

Our trained therapists can help young clients, in a group setting or individually, deal with:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Difficulty with separation (attachment issues)
  • Socialization and peer relations
  • Autism
  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADD/ADHD)
  • Issues with respect and responsibility
  • Bullying
  • School related-behavioral problems

  • Self-harm behaviour (self cutting)
  • Addictions (alcohol, substance abuse, anorexia and bulimia, gambling, internet, and sex addiction)
